Sollera base cabinet construction - full panel, closed top construction.
Просмотров 1392 года назад
Customer asks: do your base cabinets have an opened or closed top? Here's Eric's video answer: Sollera base cabinet are built with a full sheet of panel on the top. Even though this is structurally not necessary, and the typical industry expectation is that a sheet of plywood will be added on top on site, I find this to be beneficial and adds structural rigidity to the cabinet built. It also se...

Thank you. This was very helpful in helping me decide whether to have a corner sink. It took into consideration questions I hadn't thought about.
i want to make the first door but with 2 1/4 inch styles amd rails what wood should i ask for ? thanks
I hope you got your money returned and this problem was resolved because this clip is two years old and Samsung has resolved a lot of these problems or defects. 👍
Looks great. I stacked two different brands by just putting a rubber mat on top of the washer with some double sided tape to hold that mat in place. It was simple & works.

Thanks. I was writing out floor plans for a tiny house and trying to figure out if a corner cabinet saved space or took up space. I didn't know how to figure the measurements. This helps and now I know it's not what I want.
There's no debate on which is better. Particle board with melamine is garbage that will swell and delaminate if it gets wet or is in a humid environment like a bathroom. Plywood is strong and durable and can last a lifetime. Particle board is cheap. Plywood is expensive.
What brand, model and color kitchen cabinet do you have?
The bottom cabinets here were done in rift white oak with a rawhide stain. the manufacturer is Sollera Cabinets in Vancouver area of Canada.
Great video. I'm currently experiencing door opening issue right now. Our refrigerator opening is 38” so we thought 36” counter depth would not be a problem. However, our right door (French door model) does not fully open as it hits the wall on the right. We’re thinking about removing that casing/trim on the wall to gain some opening space so I can at least get 90-95 degrees. Currently around 80 degrees. When entering the kitchen, we go through an opening wall, to the right is the refrigerator. Any tips on this situation? definitely do not want to downsize to 33" and pulling out the fridge would take away so much space from the opening to the kitchen.
that's a bummer. you could try to "cheat" the eye a little bit. if your opening is 38", what if you slid the fridge in at a slight angle that's not perfectly straight 90 degree from the back wall? a couple of degrees might not stick out to your eyes, but might just be enough to buy you a little more room to open that door. that seems like the easiest solution if it buys you enough room. good luck!
This is a LG
This is a great idea and I am looking to build a similar cabinet for a non stackable washer and dryer set to save space
Thank you so much this was so helpful and addressed questions I never thought about asking
thank you for the video
So all of your considerations are against the corner sink and you want to put the sink, with all new plumbing for water lines and sewer (drain) line -- and those now have to be run where? Under the floor? behind the wall with the stove in the way? -- and the refrigerator at opposite corners of the kitchen? And, after you scrape and rinse plates, you get to carry them across the kitchen to put them in the dishwasher? Thanks, but I'll get my design ideas from somebody else. The right configured corner sinks can work OK.
This is a huge long shot but I’m having trouble pulling my trash can all the way out it’s not the hydraulic bus is definitely the track. Do you have any advice 😅
Appreciate the explanations
My drawer is stuck won't open what should I do
What about It's ventilation?
Who puts a sitcom style intro into a diy video about sinks lol
Thank you. I am interested in a double sink in the corner. This is helpful to see the measurments.
Did you end up adding side panels and finishing it off ? And or do you have anything to help pull the washer out if needed or add anything to cut down on vibration ? Thanks
O.K, but what if I put the sink against a wall that is not an outside wall but is against a bathroom wall, should I install a window so I can enjoy the view?
They changed the sizes in the early 2000s and now we’d have to remodel our kitchen to fit a new larger sized fridge.
Sounds like your teaching yourself! Stop these stupid videos
I'm having a hard time understanding why the exact position of the plywood matters. Why can't you just fabricate the countertop to have the desired overhang on all sides??
It's a great point @russellwagner7843, short answer is yes you can if everything is being made custom. i think it's all a matter of communication, all too often i've seen this detail get lost from designer to carpenter to gc to fabricator, (or substitute gc for homeowner). other times, "standard" pre-fab materials are being used. so it's all a matter of communication, who's doing what to accommodate for the end goal. hope that helps!
Eric get out of my kitchen right!! I hate the catty corner sink! I'm taking down 3 two-door cabinet right now! Not only do I hate the catty-corner sing the cabinet above with the lazy Susan what could I do there I don't want that there! I just want a few cabinets in my kitchen and some shelves! I'm becoming a minimalist😅 my house just turned 100 years old! My kitchen has been depressing me like there's no tomorrow! I will be doing everything myself! Will I make mistakes of course I will! I cannot afford $30,000 to fully get a new kitchen! Any suggestions?

Do you have anything on adjusting the side rails? My cabinet trash can drawer doesn’t seem to come out far enough.
Did you ever figure this out? This is the same problem having ?
@@KathrynUfferman-fh8twyeah we initially thought it was an issue with the track but it ended up being the cabinet itself, it was too wide. This was a 1 yr cabinet build so we ended up having to call the cabinet guys and they sanded it down at the point where it was too wide causing it to push against the track and not open. Works fine now.
30x24” diagonal cabinet for farmhouse style sink? What size farmhouse sink would fit in that? Thanks !!

I have one drawer that is not closing all the way. Last 1/4 inch doesn't get pulled in. Is there a way to adjust how far the drawer is pulled in?
I have seen this from time to time in the past. I don't know how this happens exactly, but one theory that I have is the drawer glide hardware is no longer as strong as it used to be when it was new. Short of a drawer glide replacement, I think you can tweak and shift the drawer glide mounting point a little further recessed into the cabinet box itself as an alternative workaround. I hope that is sufficient. Are you still within warranty for a new set of glides?
Did you happen to video the build itself?
I just received a KraftMaid order. Every cabinet we opened had issues with the finish. I stopped opening them. I’m a customer, not their quality control department. What a disappointing experience!
This saved me. Thank you.
Thank you! This was helpful 👍🏼
Cool
what about the 1/8" bumper on th painted cab wont that put the applie panel back an inch?
Thank you for sharing this
Nice job. I am going to do this because my stack is in a tight room and the installer had to crawl over the top to bolt them together. Now the washer failed and the repair people don't want to crawl over to disconnect the units. I will never stack with a kit again.
This was super helpful, thank you
You’re better off buying a refrigerator that lasts for 20 years like sub-zero or Viking and modeling your kitchen around that refrigerator. Most box store refrigerators today are garbage that won’t last. Btw, LG refrigerators have compressor issues.
They have issues as well.
Looool
How's this setup holding up?
still working!
@@MTkitchensone year later how’s it going?
Um, you're assuming that the only way to do a corner sink is to have an angled cabinet. You could have a standard L-shaped corner, with two cabinet doors that open outward without a center stile. Yes, you lose that narrow bank of drawers next to the dishwasher, but you could easily put a full breadth bank of drawers elsewhere. Not hatin', just sayin'. Honestly, I think we need to challenge designers to get away from the L-shaped and U-shaped kitchens, and thus get rid of corner cabinets altogether. They're a hassle no matter how you handle them. We only think we need them because we're so used to them.
Dude this is an LG washer you are showing
For real tho 🙄
Yes, I tried to get footage of the Samsung but the delivery guy hauled it away so quickly so you're looking at the replacement from LG instead. Hope that wasn't too confusing.
He already said that did you not watch the video?

Where can I find the half lazy Susan?
With a corner sink you have gained more work space to your right surely if you had a regular sink wouldn’t that take more workspace up ????? The corner sink as allowed you to utilise the area for preparing surely
